Homily

We begin today an intense week of prayer when we relive the last days of
Jesus on earth, but, most so, we recall that He is now risen and with us.

Today is called “Palm Sunday” because of the joy Jesus brought when He entered Jerusalem triumphantly.

During the procession, at the beginning of Mass, we showed publicly our loyalty to Christ. Let us make sure that our cries: “Hosanna to the Son of David” will not turn into shouts of: “Crucify Him!” as it happened for the Jews. Very often the recognition of Christ as our Lord and Savior is contradicted by our sinful behavior in the every day life.

The narration of the Passion, this year is from Luke. He show Jesus being concerned more than for himself, for the people around Him.

The last miracle He performed on earth was the healing of Malcus, the servant of the High priest who had his ear chopped off by Peter.

Jesus comforts the women who were comforting Him.

Forgives His executioners.

Saves the repentant thief making him the first saint of the catholic church.

At his birth the angel sung that: “Today a savior is born for you”. At the end of His life Jesus shows that indeed He is our savior.

Let us take some time for ourselves, and go back, silently to some words that struck us during the liturgy
