The Legion of Mary Chicago

What is the Legion of Mary?
The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1921. It is a lay Catholic organization whose members devote service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country. It is one of the biggest Catholic laity groups in Hong Kong.

What we do:
1. Weekly meeting
Members gather together every week to have a 1-hour meeting in which they:
    • Pray the rosary,
    • Report on the assigned apostolic work (described below), and
    • Listen to a short talk given by the spiritual director (usually the parish priest) on the Catholic faith and Marian spirituality.
2. Weekly apostolic work
Members carry out the assigned apostolic work and spiritual works of mercy for two hours in a spirit of faith and in union with Our Lady. These works include but are not limited to:
    • Door-to-door evangelization,
    • Visiting the sick both in their homes and hospitals,
    • Praying rosary in homes.
The Legion balances prayer with apostolic work. We receive tremendous graces through the reciting of the rosary in the weekly meetings, after which we spread God's love to our neighbors by inviting them into the Catholic faith and get to know Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The weekly meeting and apostolic work will only take 2% of your time every week. Some of us may say that they have no time for that. But brothers and sisters, would you consider watching less TV to answer God’s call?

If we love Him, we should not hesitate to sacrifice 2% of our time every week to work for Him. Brothers and sisters, our reward of working for Our Lord and Our Lady will be hundredfold in Heaven. We sincerely invite you to join Our Lady's army and save souls for Christ.
