Missionary Month of October

With the feast of Saint Therese of Lisieux on Oct.5th we begin the “Missionary Month of October”. It will come its conclusion on Sun.26th October.

In many parts of the world, the Church celebrates the month of October with a variety of initiatives to remind Catholics of the duty of every baptized person to cooperate with the Church's universal mission of proclaiming Christ to the world.

The month of October was chosen to recall the' discovery' of America and a new page in the history of evangelization.

In many countries a special activity is assigned to each week of October; personal and community prayers are offered for the Missions.

At St. Therese we'd like to remember in our prayers and sacrifices all the people of the world. We shall dedicate each week to a specific continent. We prayed for the African Continent. The second week is dedicated to Asia. It will be followed by The Americas, Oceania and Europe.
St. Therese school children will help us to animate the concluding Liturgy.

On “World Mission Sunday” we shall have a special collection for Missionaries all over the world and their pastoral activities. It will  forwarded to Rome.

Money is of course important, but more important than money, is love. We pray that our Savior will be known and loved by everybody.

In the words of St. Paul, we feel that God's love urging us, and spurring us on witnessing to this love, by words of mouth, and, most so, by witnessing. The world does not need teachers, but martyrs, i. e. witnesses.

We remember in our prayers all the Missionaries who have served us here at St. Therese: Diocesan priests from Italy, Scalabrinis, Jesuits, MaryKnolls, and, more recently the Xaverian Missionaries.
